Deep on East Ridge Street, inside an abandoned narrow alley.

Rotting garbage lay scattered everywhere, blackened trash bags piled up like little hills.

A group of people surrounded a young man sprawled on the ground. The fight that had just ended had left him covered in injuries, the metallic scent of blood mixed into his ragged breathing.

He was still clutching a broken wooden stick tightly in one hand. Beads of blood at his temple mixed with cold sweat and slid through his hair, yet in his eyes burned a stubborn refusal to admit defeat.

“Oh? That’s all you’ve got? Weren’t you shouting pretty fiercely just now?”

A girl in a purple schoolgirl-style outfit with twin ponytails walked over and looked down at him, the mockery in her voice pricking like needles.

Malice filled her pretty face. “I thought you were supposed to be impressive. Turns out you’re just weak trash!”

“Hahaha…”

The people around her immediately burst into laughter, filthy insults pouring over him like a tide.

“Jiang Ruoqing! You vicious, snake-hearted woman! You’ll get what’s coming to you sooner or later!” the young man roared, his eyes red.

“What’s coming to me?”

Jiang Ruoqing’s laughter stopped abruptly. She crouched down, pinched the young man’s chin between her fingers, and stared at him with poisonous eyes.

“You people are what’s coming to me! We’re all from Elegance, but just because you’re top-tier Omegas, everyone favors you at every turn, and you can even marry into those lofty noble families! Why—”

“Why were you born with everything? Why am I the one who can only look up at you? I refuse to accept it!”

Jiang Ruoqing screamed hysterically, a twisted smile curling at her lips. “If I can’t have it, neither can you! I’ll ruin your reputations and make everyone despise you!”

“Haha… hahaha…” Jiang Ruoqing laughed madly, her pretty, innocent-looking face gradually twisting into something sinister and frightening.

“Oh, right!” As though remembering something, Jiang Ruoqing gave a soft laugh. “That Bai Qingyu really is stupid. He fell for it so easily. What a waste of such a pretty face.

“Still, by now, he should be in some hotel getting—” At that point, Jiang Ruoqing broke into crazed laughter again.

“When they send me the video, I’ll take everyone to enjoy the show.”

Jiang Yan was so furious that blood surged into his throat, nearly making him spit it out on the spot. He clenched his fists, his nails digging deeply into his palms, but his body felt as heavy as if it had been filled with lead. He did not even have the strength to stand.

All he could do was place his hopes in Elegance.

Elegance was an institution jointly established by the Four Great Families and the nobility specifically to cultivate top-tier Omegas. Every year, the Omegas trained there would be sent to the premier noble academy—Saint Lawrence Academy—to study.

Before leaving for Saint Lawrence Academy, however, a graduation banquet would be held.

At the banquet, Jiang Ruoqing joined forces with several other Omegas and drugged Jiang Yan and Bai Qingyu, the only two S-class Omegas in their graduating class.

Using the excuse that the two had become drunk, they tried to take them away. Jiang Yan sensed something was wrong first and became wary. He pretended to let them take him, then seized a chance to escape.

But he had not made it far before Jiang Ruoqing and her people cornered him in a dark alley. Jiang Yan fought desperately and struggled fiercely against them, leaving him in his current state.

Jiang Ruoqing finally lost patience and began her final judgment. “Forget it. You’ve wasted enough of my time. Since you’re so stubborn, I won’t bother finding someone for you.”

Her gaze swept over Jiang Yan’s pretty face, a cruel smile appearing at the corner of her mouth. “But before that, I’ll ruin your face first. It’s an eyesore.”

Her voice was sweet and soft, yet her words pierced Jiang Yan’s bones like spikes of ice.

Two burly men immediately stepped forward and clamped down on Jiang Yan’s arms as easily as if they were holding a chick.

Jiang Ruoqing toyed with the small knife in her hand as she approached one step at a time, the cold blade lightly tracing Jiang Yan’s cheek.

“Don’t.”

Tears poured wildly from Jiang Yan’s eyes. He struggled desperately, his knees scraping bloody marks into the rough ground, but the two men were astonishingly strong. He could not break free at all.

The fear of death surged over him like a tide, instantly leaving his entire body numb and rigid.

Strangely, the sensation of being this close to death felt familiar to him, as though—this was not the first time he had experienced it.

The lights at the mouth of the alley were dim, stretching Jiang Ruoqing’s shadow long and thin.

Just as she raised the knife and prepared to slash down viciously—

A well-defined hand suddenly appeared, seized Jiang Ruoqing’s wrist, and twisted it sharply upward.

Jiang Ruoqing cried out in pain, and the knife slipped from her palm. The two men restraining Jiang Yan were also swiftly knocked down. Clutching her injured wrist, Jiang Ruoqing glared furiously at the newcomer.

A tall, slender figure appeared in the dark alley. Dim light fell across that breathtaking face, making him look like an immortal descended to earth.

Everyone froze when they saw his face. Jiang Ruoqing stared in utter disbelief.

“Bai. Qing. Yu—”

“How are you here? Weren’t you supposed to have been…”

Jiang Yan was also stunned by Bai Qingyu’s sudden appearance. He had never expected Bai Qingyu to escape, but if he had escaped, why had he come here?

Looking at Bai Qingyu’s profile, he suddenly realized that something about this person seemed different from before—especially his aura.

He had taken down two burly men the moment he arrived. Since when had Bai Qingyu been this strong?

Jiang Ruoqing’s face had gone pale from the pain of her dislocated wrist. She cursed, “Heh. Looks like those men were useless too. They couldn’t even keep one Omega contained.”

“Bai Qingyu, I thought you’d gotten a little smarter, but you’re still an idiot! You escaped and yet came right back in front of me to die. You’re hopelessly stupid.”

Only after Bai Qingyu confirmed that Jiang Yan was still breathing did he turn toward the vicious woman in front of him.

His voice was bitterly cold. “Of course I came back. How could I let you get away without paying the price?”

“Big words. You really think escaping means you suddenly know what you’re capable of? In a moment, I’ll have you kneeling on the ground and begging me.”

Malice filled Jiang Ruoqing’s pretty face.

“All of you, get him!”

At her command, everyone rushed forward. Some were Omegas from Elegance who were on Jiang Ruoqing’s side; others were hired thugs she had paid.

Not a trace of fear appeared on Bai Qingyu’s face. Anyone who got close was effortlessly kicked away.

Bai Qingyu moved like lightning. Before anyone could even touch the hem of his clothes, they were knocked down.

Everyone was stunned by the sight. Was this really Bai Qingyu? Had someone taken over his body? How could he fight this well?

Expressionless and icy, Bai Qingyu walked toward Jiang Ruoqing. Anyone who tried to block him was instantly beaten to the ground and left unable to get back up.

That unstoppable pressure forced Jiang Ruoqing to retreat. Bai Qingyu picked up the short knife from the ground and raised his eyes toward her.

The look in Bai Qingyu’s eyes frightened her so badly that she dropped backward onto the ground.

“What are you trying to do? You’re not Bai Qingyu at all, are you? Who exactly are you?”

Normally, Bai Qingyu was arrogant, self-important, foolish, and incompetent. He could not even beat her. There was no way he could be this powerful.

Even his eyes and aura had completely changed. This was an entirely different person.

“I’m the person who came to kill you.”

As soon as Bai Qingyu spoke, killing intent erupted in his eyes. He raised the knife and stabbed it down toward Jiang Ruoqing.

“Ah—!”

A scream rang out.

The tip of the knife stopped an inch from the corner of her eye. It had not stabbed her, but Jiang Ruoqing had already been scared out of her wits.

“So you’re not completely unafraid of death after all.”

Bai Qingyu withdrew the knife and looked coldly at Jiang Ruoqing. “Director Chen is almost here. I recorded everything you just said and sent the video to her.”

“And now—” His voice paused.

“Think about what’s going to happen to you next.”

Jiang Ruoqing finally came back to her senses and stared at Bai Qingyu in disbelief. Director Chen was the Alliance’s chief director, notoriously strict and unsentimental, someone who would not tolerate the slightest wrongdoing.

Now that Jiang Ruoqing had done something like this, Director Chen would never let her off. She might spend most of the rest of her life in prison.

No—

She refused to accept it. She refused to accept losing like this. Her nails dug deeply into her flesh, and a brief look of confusion appeared on her face.
