“Jiang Ruoqing.”
Inside the law-enforcement prison, an officer in uniform looked down at her and opened the cell door.
At the sound, Jiang Ruoqing, who had been curled up in a corner, abruptly raised her head. Light that had been suppressed for days instantly burst into her dim eyes.
Four days. She had finally waited long enough for someone to come save her!
Bracing herself against the cold wall, she staggered upright. Her face was as pale as paper, and her entire body radiated exhaustion and decay, completely different from the bright beauty she had been only a few days earlier.
She blamed everything on Bai Qingyu and Jiang Yan. Those two bastards—if not for them, how could she have fallen this far?
A twisted smile curled at Jiang Ruoqing’s lips, madness churning in her eyes without even her own awareness.
Once she got out and found Big Brother, she would make those two repay blood with blood!
She was immersed in the pleasure of imagining her revenge when the person ahead suddenly stopped.
Jiang Ruoqing’s heart sank. Only then did she realize this was not the prison exit at all, but an enclosed area sealed behind a thick polarized barrier.
A row of machine guns sat ready on cold metal mounts. Dark red blood that had not yet dried still clung to the wood of a cross-shaped execution frame.
This place was—an execution ground!
A chill shot instantly from the soles of Jiang Ruoqing’s feet to the top of her skull. Her heart nearly stopped.
She lunged toward the officer and screamed hysterically, “Why did you bring me here? I want to see my big brother!”
The more she spoke, the more agitated she became, desperately trying to rush toward the exit.
But before long, two officers dragged her back.
“Let go of me! Do you know who my big brother is?”
She struggled desperately, her fingernails scraping glaring trails of blood across the rough ground.
“Your big brother can barely protect himself. What makes you think he has the ability to worry about you?”
The officer who had brought her there remained expressionless, his voice as cold as ice as he shattered her final trace of hope.
“Impossible. Impossible…” Jiang Ruoqing collapsed weakly onto the floor, her pale face smeared with tears and cold sweat.
She stared fixedly at the officer.
“You’re lying to me!”
The officer’s eyes were as cold as ice, without the slightest ripple of emotion. He slowly raised his handgun, the dark muzzle aligning precisely with the center of her forehead.
All the blood in Jiang Ruoqing’s body seemed to freeze at once. Her instinct to survive overwhelmed everything else.
She suddenly raised her head and screamed each word. “What do you want? As long as I have it, I’ll give you anything! Money? Power? Or…”
“I don’t need anything.” The officer cut her off, his voice so calm that it was suffocating. “You hurt someone you shouldn’t have hurt.”
“No—don’t!”
“Bang!”
The gunshot tore through the dead silence. Jiang Ruoqing fell into a pool of blood with her eyes wide open. Even in death, she could not believe she had ended up like this.
The officer holstered his weapon and left. The remaining people skillfully dragged her body away as though disposing of an insignificant piece of garbage.
One week later, Bai Qingyu and Jiang Yan were discharged from the hospital. They returned to Elegance, packed their belongings, and waited for a car to take them to Saint Lawrence Academy.
In the car, Bai Qingyu listened as the System explained the main storyline. He had not expected this world to have such a melodramatic plot.
The heirs of the Four Great Families, who controlled the world economy, all fell in love with the same scholarship student—the kind admitted because of outstanding academic performance.
This scholarship student was somewhat different from ordinary people. He did not fear power or cling to the wealthy and influential. He was like the one clean, pure little white flower blooming from mud.
That drew the heirs of the Four Great Families—collectively called the F4—into competing for his affection, producing one confrontation after another and all kinds of forced-love drama: he runs, they chase; even if he grew wings, he still could not escape.
In the end, the little white flower was moved by their sincerity and agreed to be with the F4, beginning a five-person relationship from then on.
The corner of Bai Qingyu’s mouth twitched uncontrollably when he heard that. He was too embarrassed even to mock it. A “five-person relationship,” seriously.
[Although Host’s mission has little to do with the main plot, the protagonist bottom and the F4 may indirectly cause Jiang Yan’s death.]
[Please proceed with caution, Host.]
The System’s voice continued echoing in his mind as Bai Qingyu looked into the distance, toward Saint Lawrence Academy.
The scenery outside sped past. Although Cloud-A City was not the capital, it was still a first-tier city.
Crowds filled the prosperous streets, towering buildings rose one after another, and luxury and extravagance seemed to permeate everything.
The car slowly stopped at the entrance to Saint Lawrence Academy.
Saint Lawrence, the number-one noble academy in this world, had been jointly founded by the Four Great Families just like Elegance. Most of its students came from famous aristocratic clans.
Every student’s family background ranked prominently in the world. Take any one of them alone, and they were either rich or powerful.
Not only did the academy possess top educational resources, its qualifications were prized by major companies everywhere.
That was why ordinary people would fight desperately for a chance to enter.
Only three categories of people could attend Saint Lawrence: nobles, students from Elegance, and scholarship students.
In other words, wealth, classification, and intelligence—three things most ordinary people could never obtain in an entire lifetime.
Two stone lions stood silently before Saint Lawrence Academy’s main gates.
The gateposts were carved with elaborate, exquisite patterns inset with gilded designs. Under the sunlight, they exuded a noble air that was both understated and ostentatious.
The school term had already begun a week ago, so there should not have been any new students coming and going. Yet two student-council members stood waiting at the gate. Both had received temporary instructions that morning to wait there specifically.
“School’s already been in session this long. Why are there still new students coming?”
“Probably some top noble family arriving late.”
The two speculated in low voices, their gazes unconsciously turning into the distance.
Eventually, a car that was not particularly luxurious slowly stopped before the gates.
The gap between the luxury car they had imagined and reality was so large that the two student-council members could not help freezing for a moment.
But the next second, the car door opened.
The first person to step out was a young man with curly brown hair.
His appearance was gentle and clean, his smile sunny, his bright temperament like early-summer light. One glance was enough to make people instinctively like him.
An S-class Omega.
The two student-council members instantly froze, their pupils trembling slightly.
Then a second person stepped out of the car.
Both of them sucked in a breath. There was only one reason: this was the first person they had ever seen whose looks could rival the F4.
Then a second person stepped out of the car.
His gray-white hair was soft and flowing, his pale blue eyes clear as a lake. The faint movement of light within them could easily make anyone lose themselves.
His features were as exquisite as if meticulously drawn in a painting, his aura cool and otherworldly, like an immortal untouched by mortal dust—someone to admire from afar, not profane.
So this was the legendary case of a basic car carrying very non-basic people!
The two student-council members could not take their eyes off them until the sunny young man beside him gave a light cough, snapping them back to their senses.
They hurriedly composed themselves and went over to welcome the newcomers enthusiastically.
There was no need to think much. The answer had already formed in both of their minds.
Two S-class Omegas.
Top-tier Omegas were already one in ten thousand and exceptionally rare.
Yet today, they had seen two at once.
They did not look like nobles, and their temperament was not that of scholarship students.
That left only one possibility: elite trainees from Elegance.
