Xie Heting spent two hours exploring all five rooms of the apartment.
The place was not especially large.
Only two of the five rooms were bedrooms.

After making one complete circuit, Xie Heting was overwhelmed with complicated emotions.
He genuinely began wondering whether this was the dwelling of immortals.
Everything he could see was astonishing!
To preserve food here, people did not need to dig enormous pits underground.
Instead, they placed food inside a huge cabinet. The inside was chilly, and food could remain there for several days without spoiling.
Hot and cold water flowed from pipes all by themselves.
There was not even a water vat in the apartment.
Xie Heting had no idea where they stored such enormous quantities of water.
Most astonishing of all was the enormous black object attached to the living-room wall.
It could be turned on, and there were all kinds of people inside it.
They even moved.
Xie Heting could not help suspecting that people in this world knew magic.
Otherwise, how could so many people possibly fit inside such a thin object?
When did the people inside the box come out to eat?
Where did they live?
Most importantly, if he could see them…
Could they see him too?
The thought made Xie Heting uneasy.
He secretly found a piece of cloth and covered the thing.
Now those people could no longer see him!
After finishing that important task, Xie Heting began his greatest mission—
Studying.
While searching around earlier, he had found a pile of books.

Half an hour later, the wildlife program still had not ended.
But Xie Heting possessed excellent self-control.
He turned off the television and continued studying.
The second manual he read was for a mobile phone.
Fortunately, it was a touchscreen smartphone that automatically unlocked with facial recognition when lifted.
Unfortunately, phones were far too complicated.
He managed to learn only how to answer a call.
Although he had not accomplished much, Xie Heting did not become discouraged.
He picked up the third book.
He remembered Jiang Ye saying earlier that he sounded overly literary and old-fashioned.
His most urgent task was learning how people here spoke.
Otherwise, sooner or later he would expose himself.
