Author: Shenhai Ronghua
Synopsis:
When someone with social anxiety faces a crowd, there are generally two possible reactions: one, they get so nervous they suddenly become hyper and start losing it; two, they freeze in place, move in slow motion, and look ready to faint. Chu Yu just happens to be a combination of both.
On the outside, he looks half-dead. On the inside, he is continuously going insane.
This socially anxious young man transmigrates into a book, becoming Cannon-Fodder Trainee A in an idol-survival novel, only for the System to give him a mission—turn his fate around, rise to the top, and become the protagonist.
Chu Yu, who had spent eight hundred years holed up at home without seeing daylight or human beings, smiles wearily: 6.
Facing ninety-nine trainees and hundreds of audience members every day is already enough to drain all the life out of him, and now he has to compete for first place too?
He might as well give up. It isn't as if he can die. And if he does die, then he dies.
And so Chu Yu begins slacking off and watching the drama with a clear conscience. Every day, he reliably loses his mind, and whenever he has nothing better to do, he gossips with the System. His mental state is somehow even healthier than it was before he transmigrated.
What he does not know is that everyone can hear his inner thoughts.
–
During his first stage performance, he puts on a cold, handsome face and presents the crude singing-and-dancing routine he crash-learned in three days. Every time he messes up, he screams internally.
He throws out his back doing a wave.
Behold the second spring of this seventy-year-old man!
He trips over his own feet during the moonwalk.
Behold my left-right knotting whirlwind pretzel twist!
He forgets the moves during the finger-gun dance and gives a cool, seductive smile.
I'll shoot every last one of you dead, then kill myself.
…
At last, it ends. He turns around with effortless swagger and walks away without looking back.
Perfect. I even made myself laugh.
Unbeknownst to him, the audience behind him is also laughing so hard they are falling all over one another, and they promptly send him onto the trending topics.

During an intermission interview, the second male lead on his team sarcastically calls him a useless pretty face who thinks too highly of himself. Chu Yu lowers his eyes and smiles without warmth. The audience assumes he is showing his vicious side, only to hear him say internally:
You picked a fight with me for nothing.
You think I'm going to fight back? A mentally fragile little boy like me will only get angry in a fit of anger, then bang my head against the bathroom wall at midnight and sob my heart out.

During casual behind-the-scenes footage, the host asks him questions while his spoken answers and his inner thoughts play at the same time.
"What's your attitude when you encounter difficulties?"
"Work hard."
Sleep all day.
"How much money do you have left since coming to the island?"
"Not much."
Just my life.
"What do you think about being voted out and replaced by Team A before?"
"It's fine. Rules are dead things."
So am I.
–
One month after the camp opens, Chu Yu successfully squeezes into the popularity top three on the strength of his exceptional mental state. Cracking sunflower seeds, he asks the System in the same half-dead manner, "Does this count as completing the mission?"
System: "…6."
–
Before the first public performance, the show suddenly parachutes in a demon-level ace: handsome, highly skilled, and wildly popular. Every trainee regards him as a thorn in their side.
Everyone except Chu Yu.
Under everyone's shocked gaze, he eagerly runs toward the newly arrived handsome guy. Then everyone hears his inner voice:
You goddamn human traffickers, I knew at a glance this was my son! Daddy misses you so much I've been eating only one meal a day!
The entire venue falls silent.
Luo Jiayu, Chu Yu's classmate of eight years and childhood best friend, raises an eyebrow upon hearing this: "…"
Why is that idiot childhood friend of his here too?

Chu Yu, who suffers from social anxiety, transmigrates into an idol-survival novel and, without realizing it, accidentally becomes bound to a mind-reading system. At first, everyone assumes he is an inscrutable "cool guy," but they gradually discover that beneath his aloof, untouchable appearance is an adorably goofy and humorous side, leading to one ridiculous incident after another. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Luo Jiayu transmigrates as well. The two young men, who have very different personalities, get into a series of amusing situations inside the camp. With his childhood friend's company, Chu Yu gradually opens his heart and becomes friends with everyone.
The prose is humorous and fast-paced, with light, entertaining content and cute, funny interactions between the protagonists. At the same time, the story depicts how an introverted trainee grows step by step, finds his goals and direction in the book's world, and ultimately succeeds in debuting together with his friends.
