Bai Sheng had already taken the contract proposal and begun reading it. The office was quiet except for the sound of pages turning. After a moment, he marked several places, worked briefly on his computer, and then returned the urgent proposal to Tao Fei.

“There are no major overall problems. Improve and refine the rest.”

Tao Fei returned to herself and responded instinctively, then froze again.

The boss was this calm about a mistake like this???

Bai Sheng did not ordinarily scold people, but as a fellow Alpha—and a top-tier Alpha at that—when he became irritated and even a trace of his pheromones leaked out, the mint scent was so piercing it nearly made their brains ache. It always put everyone on high alert.

Yet now, despite seeing the overseas team’s errors and the degree of carelessness shown by the employees sent abroad, the boss, who had always cared only about efficiency, remained completely unruffled.

After leaving Bai Sheng’s office with the documents, Tao Fei raised the hand the cub had touched when she returned his water bottle.

“No matter how I think about it, this must be the young master’s contribution! His touch definitely brought good luck.”

She returned to her desk, made an impassioned declaration beneath everyone’s curious gaze, and pressed her palms together.

“May the boss bring the young master to work every day from now on. Nuo-men.”

Everyone: …Fine. Work has completely driven her mad.

Who among them had not gone mad?

Meanwhile, Assistant Li had already come upstairs. He passed their office and knocked on Bai Sheng’s door.

After entering, he was slightly surprised to see the cub lying in his boss’s arms.

As an excellent assistant, Assistant Li recovered from his brief astonishment and professionally reported that Xie Yu, the representative of the Xie family and their business partner, had arrived downstairs.

Before Bai Sheng could speak, the cub who had been lying in his arms pushed himself upright, climbed down from his father’s embrace, and said obediently, “Daddy, go do your work. Nuo Nuo will wait here for Daddy.”

Bai Sheng looked at the little monitor, then at the child’s water bottle. “Daddy will find someone to watch you. Play around here by yourself. Don’t go downstairs, and don’t disturb the uncles and aunties while they’re working.”

“Mm-hm! Nuo Nuo understands!”

The cub nodded vigorously.

“Nuo Nuo will wait for Daddy to come back.”

Assistant Li watched the corners of Bai Sheng’s lips rise and silently crossed out every arrangement Bai Sheng had previously made for the cub.

Crossed out. Every single one.

From now on, this child would be their “little ancestor.”

Downstairs.

Xie Yu had just stepped out of the car.

The elite-looking man turned to glance to the side and spoke to his assistant.

“Have you noticed that during the last few times we’ve come here to discuss business, there’s always been a car parked at that intersection?”

“Has there?” The assistant turned around in confusion.

“Forget it. We can’t see it from here. It’s probably someone who works unusual hours.”

Xie Yu waved casually and looked up at the Bai Corporation building.

The Xie family was another prominent family in Ang City. Although Xie Yu was neither an only child nor the eldest son, he was also an Alpha with an extremely high pheromone rank. He was ordinarily very perceptive and possessed considerable influence in business.

He had not come merely to discuss business with Bai Sheng. He also intended to correct Bai Sheng’s misconceptions about five-year-old Alpha cubs.

Xie Yu, who had twin Alpha cubs and whose home was thrown into chaos every day, touched the dark circles under his eyes. Ha. The previous night, his two precious sons had decided to hold a horse-riding competition in the middle of the night. Each of them had mounted his little toy horse and, while their parents slept, secretly tried to jump over the bed. They had successfully crossed over his wife—but had also landed on his stomach one after the other.

…It was fine. He was happy. He was so very happy!

Xie Yu gritted his teeth slightly. Remembering Bai Sheng’s remark about “counterfeit Alpha cubs,” he straightened his tie.

Today, he would restore the reputation of his two sons, who could not possibly be any more Alpha!

Then Xie Yu saw Bai Sheng come downstairs to receive him with a businesslike manner.

Xie Yu hesitated slightly. He felt that something about Bai Sheng seemed different. Wait a moment. Bai Sheng, who always paid extraordinary attention to his appearance and whose clothes were invariably neat and immaculate, had a slightly wrinkled shirt today.

Even stranger, although it was only a tiny trace, Xie Yu considered himself exceptionally observant. Bai Sheng was definitely smiling, wasn’t he?

A shrewd and “cutting” capitalist smiling like that could only mean one thing—a trap!

It was already after ten and nearly eleven.

The business negotiations in the downstairs conference room were continuing.

The tense atmosphere on the top floor gradually eased, and some employees had already begun thinking about what to eat for lunch.

A secretary auntie was watching Bai Nuo. The child wandered around his father’s office and spent a long time exchanging questions and answers with the voice intelligence inside the little monitor before finally leaving Bai Sheng’s office.

Most of the time, Bai Nuo was quiet and obedient. He was a sensible baby who understood boundaries.

Inside the office, the uncles and aunties were still working. The sound of keyboards accompanied their occasional conversations.

Bai Nuo did not understand what they were doing, but he thought the uncles and aunties were amazing. They were also drinking a dark, muddy-looking liquid with a strange smell.

Oh my. Could that thing really be drunk? The tiny cub’s head was full of question marks.

With the secretary behind him wearing the delighted smile of an indulgent auntie, the little fellow poked his head around the doorway and looked repeatedly.

The sounds inside the office gradually diminished.

No one knew who noticed him first, but everyone began glancing toward the doorway from the corners of their eyes.

At the entrance, only the little fellow’s head appeared as he curiously clutched the doorframe. His large eyes shone, and his curls bobbed as he moved. While everyone inwardly screamed, Oh my goodness, he carefully withdrew his little head and lowered his childish voice.

Yet in the deliberately quiet office, everyone could still hear him clearly.

“Auntie, the uncles and aunties are busy. Nuo Nuo won’t disturb them.”

What kind of adorable baby was this?

The sounds outside gradually faded. Several people who had completed their tasks quietly came to the doorway and peered out.

The cub had been taken into the pantry, with a “little tail” following behind him.

There was a slight incline at the pantry entrance, and the little monitor rolling behind the cub could not make it up.

The monitor reversed half a metre, hesitated, and moved farther back. Its system programming—whether intelligent or idiotic was difficult to say—made it call, “Help me, help me,” while taking a running start and trying to charge inside.

“I’m coming! I’m coming!”

The cub’s childish voice answered it.

He lifted the little monitor in one motion.

“Doudou, I’ll take you inside.”

“Thank you.”

The cub placed the little monitor on the pantry floor, crouched down, and said solemnly with a serious smile, “You’re welcome.”

Utterly adorable.

Someone else was inside the pantry. She stared blankly at the scene with a cup of coffee in her hand. She clearly did not know how to interact with children and looked flustered.

“Y-Young Master? Would you like some sweets?”

The secretary auntie, who had been standing beside Tao Fei earlier and envying her close contact with the young master, picked up a milk sweet from the nearby plate. She crouched and tried to hand it to the cub.

Bai Nuo blinked. He was too short to see how many sweets were on the table.

…A sweet?

Although he had never seen this kind of wrapper, the cub knew what sweets were.

In the apocalypse, sugar was an extremely valuable resource.

The little fellow looked at the sweet in her hand and then at the coffee she was holding.

Noticing the cub’s gaze, the secretary instinctively drew the coffee back. “Children can’t drink this. It’s bitter.”

“Then why does Auntie drink it? Nuo Nuo really doesn’t like bitter things.” Adults were so strange.

Bai Nuo blinked and reluctantly glanced at the bright, colourful wrapper. Then he reached out and gently pushed the hand holding the sweet back toward the secretary. He smiled shyly in his childish voice.

“Auntie should be good to herself. Eat the sweet. Sweets are sweet.”

Something as precious as sugar should be eaten by Auntie. She did not need to give it to Nuo Nuo.

The secretary looked at the sweet and felt the spot the tiny hand had just touched.

Auntie was about to burst into tears, sweetheart!!

Author’s Note:

The office workers: My corpse suddenly feels warm. T-T

Daddy: Cannot suppress the corners of his mouth at all.

Assistant Li: Do you still remember your plans and arrangements?

Xie Yu, who is about to see the adorable cub: I already feel like a corpse. [Cracking apart] Why, exactly, does he get this?!
