The moment Wei Yin walked into the reception hall, three sets of eyes shot toward him at once.
Three groups of people sat around the sofas on three sides of the room. In the center were Madam Morgan and Jeff. The two of them had changed clothes and looked elegant and proper, without the slightest trace of what they had been doing earlier.
On Madam Morgan’s left sat a young man with short blond hair and a baby face that made him look naturally approachable. On her right sat an elderly man with wrinkled skin and white hair, a wooden cane standing in front of him and a kindly expression on his face. Wei Yin actually recognized this man: the famous Federation tycoon and head of the Aiwate family, Adam Aiwate.
Beside Adam sat several men and women whose clothing clearly marked them as wealthy or important. They were probably all members of the Aiwate family.
“Young Master An, hello. My name is Damm Tutt. Major General Sain sent me to pick you up.” The baby-faced man was the first to stand. He walked over, smiled at Wei Yin, and gave a gentleman’s bow.
Naturally Wei Yin could not react, but that did not stop fireworks from exploding inside his head.
Wei Yin: “Damm Tutt! Descendant of the founding family of mechanics, and now the leading figure in S-class mecha research. I knew I hadn’t heard any news that the new P-type had entered production. So that one is Damm Tutt’s personal vehicle! Ah, as expected of a grandmaster mechanic. I’m actually seeing him in person. Why am I so blessed today~”
Shangyang: “Tell me. Exactly how many idols do you have?”
Wei Yin: “Don’t worry. Major General Sain has always been number one.”
Shangyang: “…” Why should I be relieved? What does this have to do with me?
After bowing to Wei Yin, Damm turned toward Madam Morgan and smiled faintly. “Madam Morgan, may I see Young Master An’s medical records?”
“Of course.” Madam Morgan smiled gently, then turned toward the intelligent housekeeper beside Wei Yin. “Charlie, go and bring Kalida here.”
“Yes, Madam.”
The intelligent housekeeper immediately turned and left. Damm raised an eyebrow, then simply took Wei Yin by the arm and led him over to sit on the sofa beside him. No one in the room voiced any objection to his actions.
It was obvious that although Damm appeared to be the outsider in the room with the least connection to Wei Yin, he was also undeniably the person with the greatest authority there. Because he represented Major General Sain, even Wei Yin’s own mother, Madam Morgan, had to step aside.
Old Adam had been smiling amiably the entire time. Once Wei Yin sat down, he even began muttering the standard grandparent lines such as “Wei Yin has grown so much.” Jeff chimed in supportively beside him, and for a time the reception hall was full of laughter and appeared perfectly harmonious.
Before long, Kalida returned with the intelligent housekeeper. She clearly knew everyone in the room. Aside from Damm, she was familiar with all of them and greeted them one by one.
“Kalida, give Mr. Tutt a report on the young master’s medical records,” Madam Morgan said.
“Yes, Madam.” Kalida nodded.
Just as she was about to speak, Tutt waved a hand. “No need to trouble yourself. Send the medical records directly to my terminal. We also need to conduct an examination of Young Master An. As you know, this will be the second union between the Sain and An families, and the first since the Empire was founded. Major General Sain takes it very seriously.”
Madam Morgan’s expression twisted almost imperceptibly, but she maintained a proper smile. She looked at Damm with apparent difficulty, her face taking on a motherly expression of tenderness. “But Mr. Tutt, Wei Yin already underwent an examination today. You know his body isn’t very strong. Too many examinations in one day will place a burden on him.”
“Thank you for the reminder, Madam.” Damm tilted his head and continued, “Our starship is docked at the spaceport. There are doctors aboard who came from Holy Star. I’ll remind them to be careful as well.”
“Then please take Kalida along too, Mr. Tutt. She has always been responsible for Wei Yin’s treatment and understands his condition best. She will be helpful,” Madam Morgan said.
Damm smiled. “Of course, Madam Morgan. Since we leave tomorrow, there is no need to keep moving him back and forth. After we go over now, let Young Master An stay aboard the starship. If Madam Morgan is worried, you may come with us right now.”
“Of course I trust Mr. Tutt’s arrangements. It will be enough for Charlie to accompany him and take care of everything,” Madam Morgan said with a smile.
“Then we’ll take our leave.” Damm stood. The smile on his face faded slightly. After giving Old Adam and Madam Morgan polite nods, he turned and walked out.
The intelligent housekeeper received its orders, helped Wei Yin to his feet, and followed.
Wei Yin was thoroughly confused. Hesitantly, he said to Shangyang, “Why did that just feel like there was gunpowder in the air?”
Shangyang: “Did it? Your bargain-bin mother just sold you. Simple transaction, that’s all.”
Wei Yin: “…”
Wei Yin did not dwell on the issue for long, however—because he got to ride in the flying-car form of Damm’s P-type mecha!
Wei Yin: “Aaaaaaaaaah!”
Shangyang: “…”
Wei Yin: “Waaaaaaah!”
Shangyang: “If you keep yelling, I’ll cut the nerves to your sphincter.”
Wei Yin’s backside mysteriously clenched. Helpless, he suppressed his excited heart and secretly extended one finger, stroking the seat to his heart’s content.
Wei Yin spent the entire trip in bliss. It was only after they boarded the starship and he was taken into the treatment room that he finally came back to himself.
Wei Yin: “Yangyang, they’re going to test my mental power again! Quick, activate the Yangyang Shield!”
Shangyang: “…” Could he please fix this rotten habit of randomly inventing nicknames?
This time, however, the Yangyang Shield was not needed.
Damm had someone arrange a separate room for Kalida. Carrying the medical records Kalida had sent him, he took Wei Yin to see a doctor. The doctor in the treatment room reviewed Wei Yin’s records, examined his condition briefly, and frowned, agreeing that another full examination really was unsuitable today. He only measured Wei Yin’s basic physical-fitness values.
When the doctor obtained the measurements and found that they indeed matched the records, his expression grew even more solemn. “Mr. Tutt, Young Master An’s condition… is not good.”
Damm leaned against the wall and nodded. “I know that. Just tell me whether there are any major problems.”
The doctor said, “The biggest problem is that his body is too weak. Although his womb sac has developed well, if he becomes pregnant in his current condition, then after giving birth he will be unable to carry a second child. There is even a substantial possibility that he will die within three years. As for his mental condition, the records show that his spirit form overflowed when he was very young. The excessively massive spirit form caused irreversible damage to his consciousness cloud, until not long ago, when the spirit form disappeared completely… To be honest, the fact that he did not become vegetative is already a miracle.”
Damm frowned and waved a hand. “I understand. Arrange the later examinations. During the journey, make sure Young Master An remains in good health.”
Doctor: “Yes.”
After leaving the treatment room, Damm led Wei Yin toward the accommodation area. When they reached the entrance to one room, they could see from a distance a tall beauty standing by the door. She had long black hair in large waves and wore a fiery red dress. Capable yet sexy, she was extremely eye-catching.
“Amanda, weren’t you going to buy local specialties for the Major General?” Damm raised one eyebrow, walked over, opened the door, and let Amanda inside.
The room was obviously Damm’s suite. The moment they entered, they found a living room connected directly to a mechanic’s workshop.
“I already bought them. Then I heard you’d brought back my future cousin-in-law, so I hurried over to take a look.” As Amanda spoke, she glanced back at Wei Yin. Then she said to Damm, “He doesn’t look like an idiot. He looks like a doll.”
“In a certain sense, he really is a ‘doll.’” Damm laughed softly, then picked up something resembling a remote control from the table and pointed it at the intelligent housekeeper beside Wei Yin. The intelligent housekeeper emitted a long “beeeep—” and shut down.
Damm walked up to it, pried open the top of its head, and removed a glowing glass sphere. He casually inserted the sphere into the “remote control” in his hand, took it back out a few seconds later, returned it to the intelligent housekeeper’s head, restored the casing, and reactivated it.
The intelligent housekeeper opened its eyes and smiled. “It is my pleasure to serve you. Mr. Damm Tutt has become the primary-authority owner. Mission mode has been updated. Related schedule items have been deleted. Adjusting time…”
The intelligent housekeeper rattled off a long string of information before finally falling silent.
Wei Yin understood after listening. Damm had removed Madam Morgan’s owner authority over the intelligent housekeeper and deleted certain scheduled tasks. But apparently he had not discovered anything suspicious.
Sure enough.
“That woman actually didn’t tamper with it.” Damm put away the “remote control” with some surprise.
Amanda laughed from the side. “Compared with the intelligent housekeeper, don’t you think the doctor she sent along is more suspicious?”
Damm shrugged. “I can’t help you there. Compared with humans, I’m much better with machines. So could I trouble you to take this human away now? He’s really too fragile. I honestly don’t know how to deal with him.”
Amanda smiled. “No problem. Oh, right. Did someone from the Aiwate family come?”
Damm: “Mm. Old Adam came in person.”
Amanda fell silent for a moment, then nodded. Without saying another word, she led Wei Yin away.
By this point, even someone as thick-nerved as Wei Yin understood that Adam Aiwate was unwelcome on Major General Sain’s side.
Fortunately, that dislike did not extend to him. In fact, Amanda was quite gentle with him.
The room they arranged for Wei Yin was a large suite filled with many plants. Simulated projections created a complete holographic natural environment, making it almost impossible to notice that one was aboard a starship after stepping inside.
Amanda gave the intelligent housekeeper a complicated series of instructions, ensuring it would take proper care of Wei Yin, then closed the door and left.
The moment she was gone, Wei Yin sensed Shangyang shoot out of his consciousness cloud and straight into the intelligent housekeeper’s optical computer. Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang was online.
Wei Yin also instantly transformed from a doll back into a living person. First he twisted into odd positions to work out the stiffness in his body. Then he sat on the carpet beside the porthole and stared blankly at the blue sky and white clouds beyond the spaceport as though he had entered power-saving mode.
Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang thought for a moment and assumed Wei Yin was depressed by the doctor’s diagnosis. After all, his current situation was already bad. If he arrived there and immediately got, well, pregnant, then he truly might have only a few years left to live.
Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang sighed and comforted him. “Try to look on the bright side. Things will get better.”
At almost the same moment, Wei Yin sighed melancholy. “I’m really getting married.”
Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang: “…”
Wei Yin looked back, puzzled. “What did you just say?”
Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang: “Oh. I said if I ever worry about you again, I’m a fucking idiot.”
Wei Yin: “Why are you cursing yourself like that?”
Intelligent-Housekeeper Shangyang: “…” Damn it!
