Shao Siyan leaned back, shot him a sidelong glance, and asked heavily, “Didn’t you hear me say to forget it?”

The head chef continued apologizing. “It was our fault for failing to prepare it in time. Please don’t lower yourself by arguing with us, President Shao.”

Could this man not understand ordinary speech?

Shao Siyan’s brows knotted tightly. He stared at the chef in silence as the small flame caused by the unsatisfactory food rapidly blazed upward inside him.

A storm gathered in his eyes. He sneered. “Fine. I’ll wait.”

The head chef seemed relieved and hurried away with an ingratiating smile to make arrangements.

Watching them rush about like ants on a hot pan, each eager to flatter him yet always stupidly striking the horse’s leg instead, Shao Siyan suddenly lost all interest.

Why had he ever thought returning to the family residence would be a good choice?

Nothing here went as he wished. He would rather return to the apartment and match wits with that mysterious stranger.

Thinking of Chi Junyan made Shao Siyan’s mouth feel dry.

He had to admit that although the man was wanton, his technique was not bad.

Even now, Shao Siyan found himself particularly savoring the memory of that morning.

Shao Siyan had always been the sort of person who acted immediately when he wanted something.

He stood, picked up his suit jacket, and walked straight outside. “I’m going back. Stop working on it.”

He emerged from the bedroom. The auntie, who had been ordered to watch him and had dozed off curled on the sofa, also awakened and forced herself to go forward in greeting.

Shao Siyan looked at the two of them—one sleepy-eyed and the other perfectly alert—and thought that assigning a single auntie to watch Chi Junyan might not have been enough.

He waved her away to rest. The auntie straightened the sofa she had slept on and left reluctantly, looking back every few steps.

Only Chi Junyan and Shao Siyan remained in the apartment.

It was so quiet that each could hear the other breathe.

Entirely at ease, Shao Siyan removed his tie and loosened his collar.

That tiny change transformed his entire presence.

When he entered, his clothing had been immaculate and his whole appearance meticulous, exuding the air of an urban elite. The moment he pulled open his collar, intense masculine energy poured through the breach in that polished exterior.

Chi Junyan’s mating heat had not completely passed. Seeing Shao Siyan’s long, powerful fingers pull open his tie and collar in such a masculine gesture, followed by the revelation of his Adam’s apple, Chi Junyan’s gaze drifted. Without his strong will, he might already have thrown himself forward and begged for sex.

He dug his nails firmly into his palm and forced himself to concentrate, refusing to focus on Shao Siyan’s partly opened collar, strong fingers, or heartless lips.

“President Shao, I have something to ask of you.”

Shao Siyan had returned to eat dessert, so the request did not surprise him.

He took out a cigarette and placed it between his lips. Remembering how particular the man before him was, he did not light it but merely held it near his nose and inhaled the scent.
