That was about the only way he could comfort himself.
He Wuning climbed aboard while examining the interior. Its decorative style was every bit as gaudy as the exterior, but fortunately it still possessed all the functions expected of a vehicle. The space in the rear could serve as a small storage area and was large enough for a sleeping bag. At the very least, it would be much safer than He Wuning’s usual habit of sleeping outdoors.
Q-chan was probably afraid that if it failed to demonstrate some usefulness soon, He Wuning would ruthlessly silence it for good, so it desperately began extolling the milk-tea truck’s virtues. “It can transform! Look here, look here—press this and the window lowers into an ordering counter! Isn’t that convenient? Boys can’t resist transforming things, right? Like those Transf○rmers and B-Robo K○butack! They’re both super popular works on Blue Star!”
He Wuning looked at it expressionlessly. “I have a question.”
Q-chan: “Meow?”
He Wuning: “Speak normally.”
Q-chan: “Hello, darling customer. What question may I answer for you?”
He Wuning: “…I don’t have a driver’s license.”
His gaze shifted into the distance. “There aren’t any traffic police here either, but if I run over those little monsters…”
Q-chan looked at him with affectionate indulgence. Even though its Host had a terrible temper and was hopelessly awkward, he could still get embarrassed! Its opinion of He Wuning improved entirely on its own, and its tone became lively again. “That’s okay! I can activate assisted-driving mode! If you accidentally hit a monster, the vehicle will forcibly knock it back and deal a tiny amount of damage!”
“It really is only a little damage, although monsters like slimes probably couldn’t withstand even one hit. Also, crashing into things will reduce the milk-tea truck’s durability! Repairs require a special skill, so they’re really troublesome!”
That one sentence stopped He Wuning just as he was about to take it for a test drive. He clicked his tongue in disgust.
Q-chan: “…”
Why did it feel as though he had just been thinking about something dangerous? That had to be an illusion, right? Its Host was actually a gentle, well-behaved child, right?
