Before long, however, he felt as if something were boring into his brain. In an instant, blurred vision, ringing ears, dizziness, and a swollen, aching head all struck him at once. If he could have, he would truly have wished to faint again, but unfortunately reality did not let you pass out just because you wanted to. Thankfully, the symptoms did not last long. As memories that did not belong to him flooded his mind one after another, all the discomfort vanished.

Qi Jun went completely blank. Not only because he had received memories that were not his own, but because so many things in those memories overturned his entire understanding of the world.

First: the current year was Beast Calendar 9421. That was a year completely beyond anything he could comprehend.

Second: the owner of these memories was also named Qi Jun. He was an ordinary pure human—and, worse, a supposedly useless pure human without a powerful mental body. This alone made Qi Jun panic a little. Combining just those two facts gave him one conclusion: unless he had gone insane, he had undergone an unbelievable transmigration. And there were far more than one or two things here capable of overturning his worldview.

Third: this could be called a world of beastmen. Fully human “pure humans” made up only ten percent of the population, and most of them had extremely high intelligence—in other words, high mental power—making them suited to intellectual and scientific research. According to the memories, this Qi Jun’s intelligence was merely ordinary. There was nothing exceptional about him, no special talent, and he had neither strong interest nor dislike for much of anything. Overall, he would have been a perfectly ordinary person in the twenty-first century: healthy, handsome, and a decent student. Yet even like this, he was still called useless. There was simply no justice. Judging from several problems that had suddenly popped into his mind, the old Qi Jun could squeeze his brain dry and still never solve them, yet the memories supplied the answers with ease. And this was called low intelligence… It was more than discouraging.

Fourth: the reason Qi Jun had been injured was that his father intended to give him as a “gift” to the owner of his eldest brother’s company. The intended use was obvious: warming the man’s bed. But Qi Jun had someone he secretly adored, so of course he refused. After being locked up with no other way out, he decided to smash his own head and kill himself. And apparently… he really had died.

All right. After summarizing those four points, Qi Jun could be certain he had transmigrated—and that only his soul had crossed over. From what the people talking earlier had said, they should be this body’s relatives. If his original body had crossed over whole, they would definitely have noticed. But these “relatives” were far too outrageous. How could they do such a thing to someone in their own family? Judging by the amount of blood his head had apparently lost, could that have been what allowed him to cross over? For now, at least, there was one good thing: this body’s face had been scarred, so it could no longer be offered up as a bed-warming gift for someone to violate. At least the chastity that would now belong to him had been preserved. But… even if he was “not smart enough” and would never accomplish much, there was no reason to treat him like this, was there? Were family ties in this era really thinner than paper?

Huh? Wait! What did they mean by “bastard”? Why did this body’s memories contain nothing about that?!
