Shen Li originally only intended to test the gun’s sights.

He saw a target, raised the gun, and fired without much hesitation.

But after firing, he hears the announcement and pauses.

He had not bothered choosing by weight when he fired. The target simply presented itself, so he casually used it to test the gun. Who knew that with one shot, just three jin would already place him first?

Shen Li had vaguely guessed Yang Zhiqi and the others did not hunt much, but was it really this little?

Wasn’t this man supposed to be skilled? Hadn’t he been rushing to teach Shen Li?

Two hours, and this was all he managed?

Shen Li looks at Yang Zhiqi, who had been talking endlessly and is now completely mute.

The middle-aged man’s facial muscles twitch. He simply runs over to inspect the fallen target, muttering under his breath, “Fuck, that doesn’t make much sense.”

Before he finishes,

Bang!

Another gunshot.

A second prey target falls.

The System’s hit notification sounds again:

Gun No. 1—target hit: roe deer—15 kg

Gun No. 1—current ranking: 1

This time, even the nearby camera operator lets out a sound of amazement. Yang Zhiqi blurts, “Holy fuck,” and the camera records it directly.

The cameraman is helpless and reminds him to watch his language. The broken livestream has only just come back online; they cannot have the platform ban it next because a guest swore.

Yang Zhiqi cannot quite maintain his expression anymore and changes his tone toward Shen Li:

“Wait, bro, you actually do have some serious skill?”

Shen Li: “I’m all right.”

Yang Zhiqi: “If you had this ability, why didn’t you show it earlier? During sign-ups you didn’t say a word. Other people had to go to all that trouble inviting you before you’d come?”

Shen Li lowers the gun.

His cool, handsome features seem covered in shadow. His sparse lashes tremble faintly, and even his voice sinks lower. “So what are you trying to say? You mean I deliberately refused to participate and deliberately tried to make everyone go without dinner?”

Yang Zhiqi: “I-I didn’t mean that either—if I were you and this good with a gun, I’d be more proactive!”

Shen Li’s long fingers rest against the safety. The crisp metallic sound of him adjusting the firearm rings out. He raises the gun in an extremely standard posture. His lean, tall figure is elegant; every movement is beautiful. He gives Yang Zhiqi a cold sidelong glance and smiles without warmth. “Mainly, I thought all of you were very capable. So naturally, as a cripple, I left the opportunity to someone like you who beat his chest and said he had professional training. There’s nothing wrong with that, is there?”

Yang Zhiqi: “…I was bravely taking responsibility!”

The camera close-up catches Shen Li’s clear, focused eyes perfectly. He looks cool and serious, yet his words contain no warmth whatsoever. “Oh. And now? You’re not voluntarily taking responsibility anymore?”

Yang Zhiqi: “……”

Shen Li: “If you love taking responsibility so much, keep taking it. Why are you suddenly demanding that a disabled person like me lead the charge?”

The instant Shen Li says this, Yang Zhiqi’s already irritable, explosive temper is ignited completely.

“No, bro, now you’re twisting words. I was kindly encouraging you. I was complimenting you and teaching you to participate more actively in group activities. What’s wrong with that?”

Shen Li lowers his gaze from behind the sight and looks at Yang Zhiqi with genuine confusion. “Am I your subordinate? Do I need your praise or encouragement?”

“Fuck.”

Yang Zhiqi finally realizes belatedly that this person is not the soft pushover he appeared to be in the car.

Shen Li’s mind moves fast. Every sentence strikes the exact point, and his logic is airtight. Having reached this stage, Yang Zhiqi can only play the emotional card, act pitiful, explain himself, and try to salvage his image in front of the cameras:

“No, Xiao Shen, I think you might have misunderstood—I may not express myself well, but everything I said to you just now was completely free of hostility, and actually it was all for your own good. Think carefully. You came here and immediately slept, then didn’t participate in an activity you had an advantage in. Is that right? Is that good for you or for the team?

“So if you felt offended by what I said just now, I can apologize first. I do have a somewhat forceful personality, but I’m really not a bad person, and I especially don’t want to argue with you in front of the camera. Besides, it’s our first day. If the two of us make things ugly, it definitely won’t be good for either of us—ahem, so I think we should both calm down first, okay?”

After saying this, Yang Zhiqi waits for Shen Li’s response.

If Shen Li were a normal, decent person, he would inevitably accept the offered way out and let the matter end.

But Shen Li’s beautiful face remains completely expressionless as he affectionately strokes the gun in his hands. “…What were you babbling about again?”

Yang Zhiqi: “?”

Shen Li narrows his eyes. “You talk too much. Sorry. I didn’t hear the beginning clearly, and I didn’t understand the end.”

Yang Zhiqi: “.”

Yang Zhiqi runs straight into a wall. Mainly, he never expected that after offering Shen Li such an obvious way out, the other man would simply start playing dumb with him?!

He is just about to say something else when Shen Li has already started walking forward, giving him no time whatsoever to be melodramatic. “Fifteen minutes left. Are you coming?”

At this point, the 【Online Discussion Board】 keeps heating up.

【AAAAAA handsome handsome handsome! Shen Li, stop killing me with how handsome you are!!!】

【Finally, that was satisfying. I’m refreshed!!!】

【Yang Zhiqi really just says whatever he dreams up. Watching him, I can practically smell the grease of a middle-aged man through the screen.】

【I’ve wanted to say this forever!!! Cuiguo, tear yzq’s mouth apart for me!!!】

【But does anyone else feel like the atmosphere between them~ has a little ex-lovers-entanglement vibe? Hahaha, I love watching Shen Li shut yzq down.】

【Fuck! A ship can be cursed, but it can’t come straight from the underworld, okay???】

【Strongly opposed! Just thinking about that oily man ever touching this beautiful person makes me uncomfortable.】

【Strongly opposed to this heretical ship +11111. Also, if they had really been together before, Yang Zhiqi would at least know Shen Li was this capable. He obviously didn’t know him before.】

【True. Now that you say that, I instead feel like Li Weiwei, who voluntarily withdrew, might know something! Is it possible she and Shen Li used to be together?】

【Help, who would divorce Shen Li? Who would divorce Shen Li? Who would divorce Shen Li?】

【I actually hope Shen Li came here looking for a new marriage, not to remarry QAQ.】

【The moment he fired those two shots, I, someone who only likes soft, cute, delicate-wife types, became hopelessly in love with that pale, world-weary face 🙂 Who understands :-)】

【I understand……………… Mom, what do I do? I think I fell for a divorced, disabled man who also looks broke QAQQQ】

【Pale + thin + beautiful + sickly, but family, he raises his hand and one-shots the target! Insanely handsome!!!】
